2018-19 budget measures

On 10 May 2018, the Treasurer delivered the 2018-19 State Budget which includes several measures that may affect State Revenue customers.

Duties

The foreign buyers surcharge, announced as part of the 2017-18 budget measures, applies additional duty to all purchases of residential property by foreign persons from 1 January 2019. This budget includes an increase in the surcharge rate from four per cent to seven per cent.

Pensioners and Seniors Rebate

The indexation for the local government rates rebate cap has been removed. The current value of the rebate caps for eligible pensioners and seniors on their local government charges will extend to the 2018-19 rating year. See information about the Pensioners and Seniors Rebate Scheme.

Point of Consumption Wagering Tax

The Point of Consumption Wagering Tax announced in the 2017-18 Budget is in progress and expected to commence from 1 January 2019.
