Last month, 46 young trainees started and they are now placed in government agencies from as far north as Broome, Karratha and Carnarvon to Albany and Bunbury in the south.
Local governments are part of the program for the first time this year, with trainees in Wanneroo, Victoria Park and Bunbury.
Operating since 2012, trainees complete a Certificate III in Government (Public Administration) while gaining work experience in government agencies.
We’re going to follow some of these motivated and enthusiastic young trainees – and share their stories as they go through their traineeships.
If you know Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people under 24 years old looking to start their careers in the government, get them to check out the Aboriginal Traineeship Program.
