The awards, presented as part of the WA Planning Commission's Coastal Zone Management Program, recognise the work undertaken to enhance, rehabilitate and adapt to threats and pressures to the WA coastline.

This year's categories include coastal champion, coastal planning, coastal management and adaption, education and engagement, coast design, and science and research.

The McGowan Labor Government remains committed to protect WA's unique coastlines, following a further $18.5 million funding commitment in the 2021-22 State Budget to address key coastal erosion hotspots.

Since 2003, many individuals, community groups, local government, State Government and non-government organisations have been recognised for their outstanding efforts and achievements to protect WA's coastline.

Applicants may self-nominate or nominate any eligible community group, organisation or individual.

Nominations close on Wednesday July 6, 2022, with winners announced in September 2022, as part of the 2022 WA State Natural Resource Management and Coastal Conference. To nominate, go to https://www.wa.gov.au/coastal-awards
