Energy consumers are far from immune to the financial and social impacts of COVID 19. Through it all, Energy Policy WA has been working with the energy sector to identify support and stimulus opportunities for Western Australian energy users to meet these challenges head on – and we are pleased that we are not alone.

The Energy Charter was established in 2019 to bring together the energy sector in focusing on consumer outcomes. Signatories to the Charter are working to embed customer-centric culture and conduct into their businesses.

Horizon Power signed up to the Charter in 2019 and Energy Policy WA has supported the work of the Charter by contributing to the End User Consultative Group (EUCG). The EUCG is chaired by Energy Consumers Australia and meets to provide consumer insights and contribute to the design of policy and operational approaches for Charter members.

The EUCG has been meeting regularly throughout the COVID 19 phases to help contribute to the energy sector’s response. Check out the newsletter to see the recent activities and catch their highlights of what Energy Policy WA is doing to support consumers.

We have been pleased to contribute to the EUCG and have been supporting initiatives such as those helping consumers improve their understanding of energy and what they can do to cut their bills in the unusual circumstances we have found ourselves in.
