The Ministers for Energy and Environment have today announced the successful applicants under the first funding round of the Clean Energy Future Fund, at an event today in the Goldfields.

The Clean Energy Future Fund supports the implementation of innovative clean energy projects in Western Australia through contributing to one or more of the following outcomes:

  • Significant, cost effective reduction in greenhouse gas emissions below projected (or baseline) emissions as a direct result of the clean energy project.
  • Design, deployment, testing or demonstration of innovative clean energy projects likely to deliver community benefits or lead to broad adoption and significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.

Projects at significant facilities in regional and remote areas were prioritised in the first funding round.

The two successful applicants, Nomadic Energy and ResourcesWA, each demonstrated their ability to meet these objectives through their plans to deploy innovative renewable energy and energy storage technology to support mine sites in regional Western Australia.

The announcements are subject to the execution of funding agreements with the State Government.
