Commission Education and Training Officers Mike Harte and Sara Shengeb delivered a two day grievance officer course to North Regional TAFE in Karratha, a course Mike said the Commission had delivered regularly to the TAFE over a decade.

"It has been my pleasure to work with such a great bunch of people over the past eleven years , and those who attended the recent training were no exception," he said.

Mike said the course was very interactive and the participants were willing to challenge themselves in terms of the scenarios that they were presented with.

He also said the support he had received from the HR team at North Regional TAFE was excellent

"It always makes it easier to conduct training when you are confident that all the logistics such as technology, materials venue and catering are taken care of and we have always been impressed with the professionalism of the HR people at North Regional TAFE," he said.

Mike and Sara also provided community outreach to Ngarluma Aboriginal Corporation and the Pilbara Community Legal Services in Karratha and the Yindgibarndi Aboriginal Corporation in Roebourne.

Sara said it was a great opportunity for the education and training team to visit the groups in Karratha and Roebourne to provide them with information about the Equal Opportunity Act and to learn about some of the challenges of discrimination and harassment facing their communities.
