Energy Policy WA is currently developing the Alternative Electricity Services (AES) framework to offer end-use customers of new and emerging alternative electricity services access to customer protections relevant to the service being provided.

In anticipation of the sale and supply of electricity in embedded networks potentially being prescribed as a service under the AES framework, Energy Policy WA is seeking comments on a draft Voluntary Embedded Networks Code of Practice.

The Voluntary Code contains obligations for embedded network sellers for customer protections to be provided to end-use customers in embedded networks.

Learnings from the voluntary phase will be used to refine obligations in a future mandatory AES Code, once the AES framework is established and subject to the AES framework being applied to embedded networks.

Stakeholders are invited to provide feedback on the proposed amendments before 5.00 pm (AWST), 23 June 2023 by submitting comments to EPWA-Submissions@dmirs.wa.gov.au

A copy of the Voluntary Code and Consultation Paper can be found on the Voluntary Embedded Networks Code of Practice page.

An online forum to discuss the Voluntary Embedded Networks Code of Practice has been scheduled for Thursday, May 18, 2023, 11:00 AM (AWST)
