The Department of Justice, Corrective Services is continuing to recruit new prison officers.

The first metro cohort of graduates for 2020 received their certificates this morning.

Corrective Services Commissioner Tony Hassall officiated at the ceremony and social distancing meant dispensing with the traditional handshake to mark the achievement.

"We are all having to change the way that we do things at the moment, but we are all in this together and it is great to see the Academy staff and the new recruits taking these changes in their stride," said Commissioner Hassall.

"I am very proud to welcome these new officers who will be joining the ranks at Hakea Prison and Melaleuca Women’s Prison as part of the front line."

The Department is still taking applications. Anyone looking for a new pathway, consider applying for a position as a prison officer.
