Interested Aboriginal people from around Western Australia are invited to be part of the group, which will provide advice and ideas in areas such as child protection, disability services, family and domestic violence, and housing and homelessness.
Communities would like to hear from Aboriginal people across WA. The group will comprise between 10 and 15 members, who will be appointed for a one or two-year term.
The new advisory group will build on the work of Communities’ Aboriginal Cultural Council, ensuring the department remains informed and advised on key issues impacting Aboriginal people across WA.
It will also assist in enhancing Communities’ understanding of ways of doing business to involve Aboriginal people in the department’s and government’s processes.
The advisory group will be aligned to the Aboriginal Advisory Council of Western Australia to ensure a consistent, whole-of-government approach to matters relating to the interests and wellbeing of Aboriginal people.
Applications close at 5pm on Monday 18 October. More information and an application form are available on the Aboriginal Strategic Advisory Group webpage.
