The Perth Casino Royal Commission (PCRC) is again urging people to come forward with information about activities associated with Crown Casino Perth.

The focus of this latest request, from individuals or organisations, is information about any social harm related to gambling and associated activities at the casino.

Last month, the PCRC requested information about improper conduct related to gambling and associated activities at the Crown Casino Perth.

A spokesperson for the PCRC said that as part of its inquiry phase, the PCRC was keen to engage with stakeholders to gather information to assist its deliberations.

“Stakeholders include but are not limited to patrons and their families, current and former Crown Casino Perth employees, and government and non-government service providers,” she said.

The PCRC has identified areas for further inquiry, including:

  • the existing levels of any social harm associated with casino gambling in Western Australia;
  • the extent to which there is adequate information and/or research available about social harm associated with casino gambling in Western Australia, and the persons suffering any such harm;
  • the extent to which different gambling products are associated with social harm;
  • whether any existing practices or operations of the Crown Casino Perth may be causative of social harm; and
  • the measures available to prevent or respond to any social harms associated with casino gambling and the effectiveness of those measures.

“Individuals may prefer to make a private submission,” the spokesperson said. “If so, we ask that you provide your contact details in the event that a PCRC officer wishes to talk to you to obtain further information. Your identity can be kept in strict confidence by the PCRC.”

The PCRC is required to inquire into, report and make any recommendations related to:

  • Crown's suitability to hold a casino gaming licence in Western Australia; and
  • the appropriateness of the regulatory framework.

Anybody with information should contact:  contact@pcrc.wa.gov.au or 08 6266 1500.  Information should be provided no later than MONDAY, 18 AUGUST 2021.
