To help Western Australian organisations recognise the contribution of their volunteers on International Volunteer Day, Communities delivers the Thank a Volunteer Day Grants Program. In 2022 the Program offered grants of up to $2,000 for organisations to host events or associated activities on 5 December.

Communities also coordinates the delivery of the Thank a Volunteer Day, WA Volunteer Certificate of Recognition to volunteer involving organisations. The certificate is provided on request and signed by the Minister for Volunteering to acknowledge and recognise the dedication of Western Australian volunteers who provide essential support and services across our communities.
