State Government backs rapid transition to a brighter energy future

Today, Energy Policy WA hosted an industry forum to acknowledge the achievements of the Energy Transformation Strategy to date with the Hon Bill Johnston MLA, Minister for Energy, and Kate Ryan, Coordinator of Energy.

Thank you to everyone who attended today’s forum. It was a great turnout with over 200 stakeholders from across the energy industry.

At the event, the Minister reaffirmed that the next phase of the Energy Transformation Strategy will be led by Energy Policy WA, carrying on from the work of the Energy Transformation Taskforce. The State has committed to an investment of $14.2 million to continue modernising Western Australia’s energy sector towards a high renewable energy future.

The State budget supports Energy Policy WA in undertaking policy and market development, strategic planning, long-term power system modelling and overall coordination for the energy sector.

The Minister and Kate Ryan also participated in a Q&A focussing on the next phase of the Energy Transformation Strategy and what it will take for Western Australia to successfully transition to a low carbon energy future.
