Arson Squad detectives have charged a 29-year-old woman as a result of their investigation into a house fire that occurred in Bassendean on Tuesday, 6 May 2025.

Just after 4am, emergency services were called to a fire at a home on Hamilton Street in Bassendean.  Several people were staying at the residence at the time.

Two people sustained burns in the fire - a 29-year-old woman with minor burns was treated and released from hospital, and a 30-year-old man remains in hospital with serious but non-life-threatening burns.

The damage to the home is estimated at $300,000.  

A 29-year-old woman from Bassendean has been charged with one count of ‘Breach of Duty’ and she is due to appear before the Midland Magistrates Court today, 7 May 2025.
