Helena district by-election to take place September 10

Premier Richard Court today announced that the election for the Legislative Assembly electoral district of Helena would be held on Saturday, September 10, 1994.
The vacancy was caused by the Hon Gordon Hill giving his resignation to the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Hon Jim Clarko MLA, on Thursday, August 4.
The Speaker had given his warrant to the Clerk of the Writs (the Electoral Commissioner) directing him to issue a writ to supply the vacancy.
The writ has now been issued to the Returning Officer.
Nominations of candidates will close at 6 pm on Thursday, August 18, 1994 and the electoral roll for enrolments will close at 6 pm on Friday, August 19, 1994.
The Premier said that, as with the Glendalough by-election, a code relating to Government advertising would apply during the election period.
