Ryan Sengara is the Acting Assistant Under Treasurer Economic.
The Economic Business unit are responsible for providing economic, financial and policy advice to Government – this advice includes economic conditions and forecasts, tax and royalty changes, the distribution of GST grants, best practice regulation, economic diversification and wages policy. The team also includes the dedicated Housing Supply Unit, to drive new measures to boost housing supply and affordability in WA.
Ryan joined the Western Australian Department of Treasury in 2021 and as Director of Analytics, Digital Transformation and Strategic Projects and led the provision of strategic advice to government on investment in digital transformation – working closely with the office of digital government on assessment of proposals, project assurance, and whole of government policy. He also oversaw data modelling that directly informs government consideration of a wide range of service delivery expenditure across government portfolios.
Prior to this, at the Department of the Premier and Cabinet, Ryan coordinated the delivery of the $5.5 billion Western Australian COVID Recovery Plan across the public sector.
He also held key reform strategy and delivery roles in the Department of Health over 7 years, directing programs culminating in the Western Australian Health Services Act 2016 and Sustainable Health Review. He has also held senior management roles in the not-for-profit sector.
