COVID-19 coronavirus: Test Isolation Payment frequently asked questions

The WA COVID-19 Test Isolation Payment is a single $320 payment for workers living in WA who have been directed to isolate while awaiting a COVID-19 test result, are unable to work from home and do not have access to paid leave or other income.

Where do I apply?

Is this payment available to people who were required to isolate following a COVID-19 test prior to Saturday 5 February 2022?

Yes, provided their COVID-19 PCR test was taken on or after 23 December 2021. Applications for the payment can only be submitted from 5 February 2022. Workers tested prior from 23 December 2021 to 5 February 2022, will have until Saturday, 26 February 2022 to complete their application.

Can I apply after I have finished my isolation?

Yes. Applications can be lodged:

  • up to 26 February 2022, where the worker was tested prior to 5 February 2022
  • up to three weeks from the date of the COVID-19 PCR test, where the worker was tested on or after 5 February 2022.

Will permanent or self employed workers be eligible for the payment, or only casuals?

All workers (self employed, casual, full and part time) who are required to isolate while waiting for a COVID-19 PCR test result and who lose income, are eligible to apply, provided they meet all other eligibility criteria. Supporting evidence will need to be provided to prove eligibility.

If I lose income due to caring for someone who is required to isolate following a COVID-19 PCR test, can I apply for the payment?

Yes. An applicant who is the parent, guardian or carer of someone who needs to isolate following a COVID-19 PCR test and loses income as a result of missing work, is eligible to apply, provided all other eligibility criteria are met.

Can I receive the payment more than once?

Yes. Workers can receive the payment multiple times, however, can only apply once in any 30-day period unless directed to take another COVID-19 PCR test by the WA Department of Health.

Can multiple people from the same household apply for the payment?

Yes, if they all undertook COVID-19 PCR tests or the parent, guardian or carer required to isolate with someone who needs to isolate following a COVID-19 PCR test, and met all other eligibility criteria.

Will I receive a lower payment if I get my test results quickly and only miss one day of work due to being required to isolate?

No. The payment is set at $320 for eligible applicants regardless of how long they need to isolate awaiting a PCR test result.

Can I apply for the Test Isolation Payment after taking a COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test?

No. Only workers who are required to isolate while waiting for test results following a COVID-19 PCR test are eligible for the payment. 

What do I do if I made a mistake in my application?

If you made a mistake in your application, please contact the Test Isolation Payment team on (08) 6154 0508 for further assistance.

I am having trouble completing my application. What should I do?

If you are having technical issues, try:

  • using a computer, instead of a mobile device, to lodge your application
  • using a different web browser (e.g. Chrome or Microsoft Edge)
  • clearing your internet cache and cookies.

If you still require assistance completing your application, you can telephone (08) 6154 0508, 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays).

How do I know if I have been successful and how long will the payment take?

Once you have successfully submitted your application, you will receive a confirmation email. In some instances, we will contact you to confirm information and verify your eligibility.

Once your application has been assessed and verified, you will be emailed again to confirm your application has been successful.

Successful applicants will be paid within five working days (it may take longer for the payment to be processed by your financial institution).

Applicants who do not meet the Test Isolation Payment Scheme eligibility will be notified.

I have lost my COVID-19 test results, can I get a new copy?
