Members considered the following matters:

Data Classification Policy (v1) and Supplementary Guide

The Committee discussed and endorsed the draft WA Government Data Classification Policy and the draft Guide to the WA Government Data Classification Policy and supporting materials. The Data Classification Policy provides a clear, straightforward process for determining the appropriate protective labels for Government data. The Policy will be piloted prior to full implementation across the sector, and is subject to Cabinet approval.

Updated Digital Security Policy (v2) and new Supplementary Guide

The Committee discussed and endorsed the updated Digital Security Policy and new supplementary guide with the view that there needed to be a coordinated approach to digital security across the WA public sector.

ICT Capability and Capacity Building Program

The Committee discussed a proposed program as part of a Capability and Capacity building stream that the Office of the GCIO to build expertise and cross-sector collaboration. Members were supportive of the approach.

ICT Capability Framework

The Committee discussed framework that highlights ICT as an important component of business and provides an avenue for people with ICT skills to get in to management roles. Members agreed to endorse the ICT Capability Framework.

Agency Key Performance Indicators (KPI) Reporting

Digital WA identifies seven KPIs to measure progress toward achievement of strategic outcomes and the realisation of strategic benefits. Members endorsed a letter to formally request agencies to report on Digital WA KPIs. The KPIs will be reported to Cabinet.

Strategic ICT Website Governance Exemption Process

The Committee discussed and endorsed a proposed exemption process for website development projects costing over $100,000. This is to avoid unnecessary website investments, and to minimise cost and the impact of later transitioning websites and digital services to the common myWA platforms.

myWA Digital Services Platform

Members noted the change in scope to the myWA Digital Services Platform stage two. Stage one will wrap up on 30 June, and stage two will focus on a Beta platform. The Office of the GCIO will engage with agencies in regards to website consolidation and mapping common digital services and contracts. 2 Digital WA: ‘How to” Mini Guide for Senior Executives DG ICT Council members endorsed a draft

Digital WA: “How To” Mini Guide for Senior Executives 

The Guide is for Senior Executives and communicates, in a straightforward and visual way, how the policies and initiatives stemming from Digital WA can be combined to achieve digital government outcomes.

The next meeting of the Directors General ICT Council is scheduled for 5 December 2017.
