MyLeave is the business name of the Construction Industry Long Service Leave Payments Board.

The Construction Industry Long Service Leave Payments Board (trading as MyLeave) is a Statutory Authority established pursuant to the provisions of the Construction Industry Portable Paid Long Service Leave Act 1985 (the Act).

The primary mission of MyLeave is to manage in an efficient and effective manner, portable long service leave for construction industry employees, established by the Act. This is achieved by:

  • Ensuring that all eligible employers are registered and are paying contributions on behalf of all eligible employees
  • Ensuring that all eligible construction industry employees are registered
  • Minimising the contribution rate payable through optimising the rate of return on investment funds, and minimisation of administrative costs.

MyLeave provides a significant benefit to employees in the form of a portable long service leave benefit which, due to the nature of the industry, would normally not be available.

About the Board

The Construction Industry Long Service Leave Payments Board (the Board) was established as a body corporate under section 5 of the Construction Industry Portable Paid Long Service Leave Act 1985 (the Act). In 2012 the Board registered MyLeave as its business name.

Functions of the Board

The Board is responsible for carrying out the administration of the Act and has the following functions:

  • to maintain the register of employers and register of employees;
  • to administer the scheme of payment to employees during long service leave established under the Act;
  • to advise the Minister on the administration of the Act; and
  • to carry out such other functions as are conferred on the Board under the Act.

Funds of the Board

The Board is funded by compulsory contributions from employers. These funds are invested in accordance with the WA Trustees Act 1962 .

The contributions and investment returns meet the cost of long service leave entitlements and the administrative expenses of MyLeave. 

MyLeave’s funds are independent of the State Government.

Board Members

The Board is a body corporate of seven members who are appointed by the Minister.

The Chair is independently appointed by the Minister.

Three Board Members represent the interests of employees.

  • Two members are selected from nominations by Unions W.A. and the Building Trades Associations of Unions of W.A.
  • One member is person who in the Minister’s opinion represents the interests of employees in the construction industry.

Three Board Members represent the interests of employers.

  • Two members are selected from nominations by the Master Builders Association of W.A. and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of W.A. 
  • One member is a person who in the Minister’s opinion represents the interests of employers in the construction industry.

To achieve excellence in the delivery of long service leave entitlements to construction industry employees.

To provide financially sustainable portable long service leave for eligible Western Australian construction industry employees.

Objectives

To fully implement the scheme within the Western Australian construction industry by:

  • ensuring all eligible employers are registered and that contributions are being paid for eligible employees; and
  • registering all eligible construction industry employees.

To minimise the contribution rate payable by:

  • optimising the rate of return on investment funds having regard to risk; and
  • minimising the administrative cost.

Executive

The Board appoints a Chief Executive Officer for the purpose of administering the Act.  The Chief Executive Office is assisted by an executive team comprised of three General Managers responsible for the core business areas of MyLeave.

3. Freedom of Information

The Western Australian Freedom of Information Act 1992 gives the public a right to access information held by the MyLeave – Construction Long Service Board.

4. Information Privacy Policy

This Information Privacy Policy is based on the requirements of the Information Privacy Bill 2007. The Policy will be reviewed when the Bill is enacted and amendments made as required.
