Promoting the use of data to inform decisions, from design to delivery.
Last updated:

Data Analytics and Insights sits within the Digital Transformation & Technology business unit within the Office of Digital Government (DGov). The team is tasked with developing products that enable the Western Australian Government to share data securely and use it to make better decisions.

The team plays an important role in making the Digital Strategy for the Western Australian Government 2021-2025 a reality – specifically the priority of Informed Decisions. Data is a valuable asset that can help improve the quality and efficiency of government services and deliver a healthier society, environment and economy. This means using good data insights to inform what we do, from design to delivery.

Working with participating agencies, the team brings together the vast quantity of data collected by the WA Government to inform and evaluate decisions, operations and services.

Key initiatives led by this team:

  • PeopleWAA linked data asset offering a powerful tool for research, government policy and service improvement.
  • Data standards for WA Government: A suite of standards for capturing key data in a clear and consistent way across State Government.
  • Secure data sharing infrastructure: A central, cloud-hosted repository for agencies to store and share data in accordance with existing data sharing agreements.
  • Social Impact Dashboard: An interagency dashboard developed with 11 partner agencies to monitor key social outcomes for Western Australians.
