Relief and Recovery

Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment
The Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment (AGDRP) is a one-off payment provided to eligible Australian residents who are adversely affected by a major disaster. A major disaster can be a natural or man-made disaster (such as a terrorist attack) that occurs either in Australia or offshore.

Disaster Recovery Payment

The Disaster Recovery Payment (DRP) is a one-off, non-means tested payment of $1000 for eligible adults and $400 for eligible children who have been adversely affected by a major disaster either in Australia or overseas.

DRP is activated when the impact of a disaster on individuals and families requires Australian Government assistance, in addition to that provided under standard recovery assistance.

Each disaster is different and as a result the timing and nature of additional levels of assistance varies from disaster-to-disaster and community-to-community. DRP assists with the short-term recovery needs of the community.

If a natural disaster is not covered by the Disaster Recovery Payment you may be eligible for the Crisis Payment.

Lord Mayor's Distress Relief Fund

The Lord Mayor's Distress Relief Fund (LMDRF) was established in 1961.

The LMDRF was established in conjunction with the State Government to provide financial assistance to individuals for the alleviation and relief of distress, suffering and personal hardships, brought about by any disaster or emergency within Western Australia declared by the Western Australian Government or for which the LMDRF Board considers assistance is warranted.

Australian Victim of Terrorism Overseas Payment

The Australian Victim of Terrorism Overseas Payment is a one-off payment if you suffer harm from a declared overseas terrorist act. The Prime Minister must formally declare an attack to be a terrorist act for the purposes of this payment.
