The Working with Children (Criminal Record Checking) Amendment Bill 2022 (the Bill) was passed by the Western Australian Legislative Assembly on 20 September 2022, and was introduced into the Legislative Council on 21 September 2022. The Minister for Child Protection, the Hon Simone McGurk MLA, introduced the Bill into the Legislative Assembly on 17 August 2022.
You must renew your working with children check a month before it expires to keep it current. You have the option of renewing online up to three months before the expiry date.
You can also renew by completing an application form available from Australia Post. If you want to update your photo, re-applying is the only way to do it.
To sign up for online services you must:
- have a current working with children check or pending application
- provide a WA driver’s licence
- have an email address so you can be sent a link to register.
Details of your employer, volunteer organisation or education provider are also required including:
- their name
- position title
- email address
- phone number
- street and postal address.
Your renewal payment can be made with a Mastercard, Visa or debit card.
