Different rules apply depending on the type of modification you wish to make, relating to:
- alternate fuels
- LPG powered vehicles
- crane identification numbers
- trailer vehicle identification numbers
- individually constructed vehicles
- street rods
- light and heavy vehicles
- vehicles for people with disability
- numerous accessories.
In most cases, approval from the Department of Transport is required by selecting the relevant category and completing the required form. But in some instances you may only need an authorised inspection.
The application fee only applies to one modification. For each additional modification you need to pay the fee again.
