The Western Australian Government has announced a $113.6 million investment in skills and training initiatives, delivered in partnership with the Australian Government under the landmark $1.34 billion National Skills Agreement (NSA).

The funding will support four major initiatives across the vocational education and training (VET) sector to meet current and emerging skills needs in WA’s strong and diversifying economy.

Over the next three years, the WA and Australian Governments are jointly investing:

  • $46.5 million to improve support for apprentices and trainees, especially among priority groups, to help them complete training and take up skilled jobs.

  • $43.9 million to expand investment in partnership with the Aboriginal Community Controlled and Aboriginal owned training sector, delivering better training and employment outcomes for Aboriginal people.
  • $15.2 million to grow WA’s VET workforce capacity and capability, ensuring a high-quality workforce is retained, including support for the Aboriginal VET workforce.
  • $8 million to expand foundation skills support, including extending the ‘Read Write Now’ program into remote communities, so more Western Australians can access training to participate in education, training and employment.

These initiatives will deliver long-term benefits by improving training completions, supporting Aboriginal communities, and equipping the workforce with the skills needed for WA’s strong and diversifying economy.
