The Western Australian Government wants to make sure that consumers of new and emerging electricity services have access to protections relevant to the service being provided.

This will be achieved through the Alternative Electricity Services (AES) framework.

Energy Policy WA is now seeking comments on a consultation draft of the legislative amendments to create the AES framework.

The Electricity Industry (Alternative Electricity Services) Amendment Bill 2023 (the Bill) primarily amends the Electricity Industry Act 2004, with a consequential amendment to the Energy Safety Act 2006.

Stakeholders are invited to provide feedback on the proposed amendments before close of business 21 April 2023 by submitting comments to EPWA-Submissions@dmirs.wa.gov.au

A copy of the Bill and consultation paper can be found on the Electricity Industry (Alternative Electricity Services) Amendment Bill 2023 page.
