Premier's Science Awards 2025 applications open

Now in their 24th year, the Premier’s Science Awards recognise and celebrate the outstanding scientific research and engagement taking place in Western Australia.

This year, the Premier's Science Awards are celebrating exceptional Western Australians across 10 categories:

  • Scientist of the Year
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scientist of the Year
  • Mid-Career Scientist of the Year
  • Early Career Scientist of the Year
  • Student Scientist of the Year
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander STEM Student of the Year
  • Government Science Project of the Year
  • STEM Educator of the Year – Schools (Primary and Secondary)
  • STEM Educator of the Year – Tertiary (Universities and Registered Training Organisations)
  • Science Engagement Initiative of the Year

The winner of each category will receive a generous prize from a total pool of $140,000 and a professional video to promote their work and achievements.

Winners and finalists of these prestigious awards are recognised for their work by peers, scientific organisations and the community. WA scientists, researchers, STEM tertiary students, STEM educators and STEM engagement providers are encouraged to apply. 

Public voting for a finalist to be recognised as the People's Choice Award winner will be launched in the second half of 2025. 

Nominations are also open for the WA Science Hall of Fame, which was established in 2007 and recognises exceptional, lifelong contributions made by Western Australians to STEM.

Applications and nominations close at 10:00AM (AWST) on Monday 28 July 2025.
