Apply now to become a consumer voice in WA's energy sector

News story
Want to help shape energy policy in Western Australia to benefit customers? We’re inviting passionate consumers to apply to join the Expert Consumer Panel and contribute to better outcomes for energy users across the state.
Last updated:

The Expert Consumer Panel represents the interests and opinions of Western Australian consumers in energy sector consultations and rule making processes. Panel members can influence decisions by engaging with regulators, policy makers and energy companies, participating in forums and committees, and making submissions on issues affecting energy consumers.

Applications are now open to join the Expert Consumer Panel. Interested individuals can find out more details and apply via our website before 5pm (AWST) on 20 May 2026.

Benefits include:

  • The opportunity to be a consumer representative on high-level energy industry committees.
  • Invitations to WA ACE Forum meetings.
  • Annual one-on-one meeting with the Coordinator of Energy.
  • Access to WA ACE Small Grant funding.

Membership should reflect the diversity of Western Australian communities and populations. We encourage gender diversity, persons with a disability, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people or people from other diverse backgrounds to apply.

Successful applicants’ terms will commence on 1 July 2026.

Important: Energy industry consultants will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

It is strongly recommended that if you work in the sector for a commercial entity or consult with market participants, including commercial or government agencies, that you contact Energy Policy WA to discuss your eligibility before applying during the next recruitment round.

Officers of the Western Australian Public Service, persons employed by the Australian Energy Market Operator, the Economic Regulation Authority, electricity GTEs or similar organisations will not be eligible for appointment to the Panel.

For a confidential discussion about panel membership or eligibility, please contact Brent Savage by phone on 08 9200 6711. General questions can be directed to brent.savage@deed.wa.gov.au.
