Arrest - Fire at childcare centre in Mandurah

Detectives from Arson Squad have charged a 35-year-old man as a result of their investigation into a structure fire that occurred in Mandurah on Tuesday, 18 November 2025.

It will be alleged about 6.30pm, the accused entered the property of a childcare centre located on Truarn Street, where he set alight various items, causing a fire. The fire spread through the patio area to the main building, causing significant damage. The damage bill is estimated at $500,000.

Arson Squad detectives have charged the 35-year-old Mandurah man with:
• 1 x Criminal Damage by Fire
• 1 x Burglary and Commit on a Place

It will be further alleged; while under arrest, the accused assaulted a police officer. The officer was taken to hospital for treatment and released.

Mandurah Police have charged the 35-year-old Mandurah man with:
• 2 x Obstruct Public Officers
• 1 x Assault Public Officer

He is due to appear on all charges in the Perth Magistrates Court today, 19 November 2025.
