Officers from the Major Crash Investigation Section are investigating a fatal crash that occurred in Bannister on Tuesday, 20 January 2026.

About 4.40pm, a silver Toyota Landcruiser station sedan was travelling south on Albany Highway, when the vehicle left the road and struck a tree.

The driver and sole occupant of the Landcruiser, a man in his 50s, died at the scene from injuries he sustained in the crash.
