Cara is a Yawuru/Bunuba woman and lawyer from the Kimberley region, who has been driving employment opportunities for First Nations people through her foundation Saltwater Country.

The not for profit Indigenous lead organisation aims to engage at-risk Aboriginal youth and connect them with their pastoral history through rodeo sports, campdrafting and country music events.

As part of the award, Cara will receive an additional $10,000 to progress the program in a commitment to help the country’s at-risk Indigenous youth.

The winner was recently announced in a video streaming event after the ceremony was postponed in 2020.
