This week, outstanding academic achievement was celebrated at the International Student Scholarship Awards Ceremony.

The Minister for International Education, the Hon. David Templeman presented the Western Australian Premier’s University Scholarship and Premier’s WACE Bursary certificates to the successful recipients.

The Premier’s University Scholarship provides a one-off $50,000 payment towards international student course fees and other university costs. The scholarship is for high-performing international students to each of Western Australia’s 5 universities. Scholarships will be awarded to 2 successful international students at each of Western Australia’s 5 universities each year until 2026, providing for a total of 10 scholarships per year.

The Premier’s University Scholarship recipients from India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Kenya, Brazil, Hong Kong and Zimbabwe were successful in achieving the prestigious $50,000 scholarship course fees and costs in attending one of Western Australia’s 5 universities; Curtin University, Edith Cowan University, Murdoch University, Notre Dame University (Fremantle Campus) and the University of Western Australia. Key representatives from each university, Consuls General and Honourary Vice-Consuls from the respective countries attended the awards ceremony to celebrate the achievements of the recipients.

The successful Premier’s University Scholarship recipients are:

2. Camila Goes Tavares studying at Notre Dame University
3. Chun Esther Yuen studying at Notre Dame University
4. Goldine Achudi studying at Murdoch University
5. Mohit Kumar studying at Curtin University
6. Raiza Varghese studying at University of Western Australia
7. Sandra Jo studying at Curtin University
8. Tien Trung Pham studying at University of Western Australia
9. Yvonne Tatenda Chifamba studying at Murdoch University

A number of key representatives from Schools Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) were also in attendance to celebrate the 10 successful recipients of the $20 000 Premier’s WACE Bursary. SCSA works with authorised international schools to deliver the internationally recognised Western Australian curriculum program.

The Premier’s WACE Bursary provides up to 50 successful international WACE graduates with a one-off $20,000 payment towards their living, travel and study expenses. The Bursary is provided to support international WACE graduates who commence undergraduate studies in-person at one of Western Australia's 5 universities.

The night was filled with celebration as the students were welcomed to their new home in Western Australia and Minister Templeman congratulated the successful recipients and iterated the importance of international students for the State as he addressed the crowd.
