About

Family business, Farmhouse Flowers, was a recipient from round 1 of the Community Small Grants Fund, aiming to support community groups and businesses within Western Australia's native forest regions.

Through the CSGF up to $100,000 of funding is available for sustainable projects that aim to create jobs, expand and diversify the local economy, and create liveable communities through services, infrastructure, tourism and events.

Background:

Farmhouse Flowers is a small-scale family owned and operated cut flower farm, located between Manjimup and Pemberton in the Southern Forests region of Western Australia. They grow seasonal cottage garden flowers to create mixed bouquets and garden inspired wedding arrangements.

While they had plenty of local interest in their business, Farmhouse Flowers didn't have the capacity to meet the demand.

Approach:

They were able to use funding from the CSGF to acquire a delivery van, greenhouse and cool room. This has enabled them to grow and store larger volumes of flowers and implement a delivery service for weddings in the region, significantly expanding their operations.

Outcome:

Farmhouse Flowers highly values growing, arranging and supplying locally, and this expansion has allowed them to meet the local demand for their product and supply to their community.

"This grant has been life changing for our family business. It has made it possible for our flower farm to grow bigger, allowing us to gain immediate infrastructure that has been pivotal to our business expansion."
