The WA Government’s economic development framework, Diversify WA, highlights science, innovation and technology as a cross-sector activity that improves value and productivity across the economy.
Boosting investment in science, innovation and technology, including early-stage funding for local start-ups and scale-ups, is essential to the growth and diversification of our economy and the creation of jobs across sectors.
Deloitte has been engaged to conduct a market sounding process to identify venture capital interest in WA and opportunities to encourage greater investment.
Who is eligible to provide feedback?
Feedback and interviews are open to venture capital firms and institutional investors.
To be considered, firms must have a fund Registered or Conditionally Registered under the Venture Capital Act 2002:
- As a Early Stage Venture Capital Limited Partnership;
- As a Venture Capital Limited Partnership; or
- As an Australian Venture Capital Fund of funds.
Alternatively, institutional investors will be considered permitting they have at least $100 million of funds under management.

What feedback are we looking for?
Venture capital firms will be asked to provide feedback on:
- WA’s Investment Landscape: What do you perceive as being WA’s strengths and weaknesses for investment?
- Experience in WA: Have you invested in WA before and what was your experience? Would you invest again?
- Models you support: What VC models and on what ‘terms’ would you support Government getting involved in VC?
- Other funding initiatives: Are there other funding initiatives by Government (outside VC) that you would support?
- Future Investment in WA: What would need to change for you to increase your investment in WA?
