Defence Science Centre is excited to announce the opening of Round 4 of the Collaborative Research Grants and welcomes applications from the Western Australian research community.

This opportunity encourages academic-industry collaboration to develop defence-related industries in Western Australia. The Australian Defence Force is at the forefront of innovation, and needs your ideas and capability to turn concepts into reality.  

Up to $150,000 in funding is available for collaborations between universities, industry and government, which includes one-or-more researchers from Curtin University, Edith Cowan University, Murdoch University or The University of Western Australia.

To be eligible, projects must address one of more of the following themes:

  • maritime maintenance/sustainment    
  • Integrated intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance
  • Space capabilities
  • Enhanced human performance
  • Medical countermeasure products
  • Multi-disciplinary material sciences
  • Quantum technologies
  • Trusted autonomous systems
  • Cyber
  • Advanced sensors, hypersonics and directed energy capabilities

Not sure if your idea is applicable? Submit a 300-word abstract for feedback and guidance from Defence Science Centre to assist development of your grant application. 

The Collaborative Research Grant is now accepting applications until 26 April 2022
