Energy Minister Bill Johnston announced an exciting opportunity for Western Australian businesses to explore the development of a disconnected microgrid pilot in the Mid-West, Wheatbelt or Great Southern region.

A disconnected microgrid is a small, isolated self-supported network which was once connected to the interconnected network but now operates independently from the rest of the grid.

Western Power and Energy Policy WA will host a joint webinar to present on the project scope requirements and process in more detail. It will also provide an opportunity to hear more about the regulatory work being undertaken by Energy Policy WA to support deployment of disconnected microgrids in the South West Interconnected System.
