Detectives from the Fremantle Rapid High Harm Offender Response team have charged a 30-year-old Armadale man with several offences, following an evade police incident which occurred in Perth’s South on Thursday, 25 September 2025.
It will be alleged, about 12.05pm, officers sighted a black Audi 8K driving erratically on Leach Highway in Melville, before turning into a carpark at the intersection of Norma Road in Myaree.
Police entered the carpark and activated their emergency lights and sirens, indicating for the vehicle to stop, however; it will be alleged the accused accelerated away from police and an evade incident ensued.
It will be further alleged the accused drove recklessly—mounting a footpath, and driving on the wrong side of the road. The evade incident was terminated by police due to community safety concerns.
With the assistance of the Police Air Wing, the vehicle was tracked to a shopping centre on Davy Street in Booragoon. It’s alleged the accused abandoned the vehicle, and entered a unit complex, where he disposed of a duffel bag before leaving the area.
Police seized and searched the duffel bag, and located a sawn-off rifle with a quantity of ammunition, a home-made taser, and pocket knife.
About 4.20pm, the accused was located at a supermarket on South Street in Kardinya, where he was arrested. It’s further alleged the accused resisted during the arrest, and that a pocket knife and quantity of methamphetamine was seized from his person.
The 30-year-old has been charged with:
- 2 x Carried or possessed a prohibited weapon
- 1 x Reckless driving to escape pursuit by police
- 1 x Driver of a vehicle failed to comply with a direction to stop (circumstance of aggravation)
- 1 x Unlawfully possessed a firearm or major firearm part to which a prohibited alteration had been made
- 1 x Possessed or acquired ammunition while not being authorised by a licence or permit
- 1 x Possess a Prohibited Drug (Methylamphetamine)
- 1 x Obstructing public officers
- 1 x Carried or possessed an edged weapon
He has been remanded in custody after appearing before Fremantle Magistrates Court and is due to next appear before the same court on 3 October 2025.
