Major Crash Investigation Section detectives have charged a man as part of their ongoing investigation into a fatal crash that occurred in Breton Bay, near Gingin, on Sunday, 4 October 2026.

A 21-year-old man from Butler has been charged with:

• 1 x Reckless Driving (exceeded the speed limit by 45km/h or more on a length of road)

The man was granted bail and is due to appear before Joondalup Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 28 October 2026.

The circumstances surrounding the crash and a number of investigative actions remain underway.

Major Crash Investigation Section investigators are appealing for anyone who may have seen the grey BMW sedan in the vicinity of Nambung National Park (The Pinnacles) between midnight and 4am, in Lancelin between 5am and 7.30am, or travelling southbound on Indian Ocean Drive between Lancelin and Breton Bay between 7.30am and 7.45am on Sunday, 4 October 2026, to come forward.
