Last updated:
Broome Detectives have charged a man following an investigation into a serious assault at Dampier Peninsula on Sunday, 29 March 2026.

About 1.00am, it will be alleged the man and the victim — a man aged in his 20s — became involved in a physical altercation at a party in the Beagle Bay Community, during which the victim was rendered unconscious, fell, and struck his head on the road.

Several bystanders assisted the victim, who later presented to the Beagle Bay Community Clinic for medical treatment. He was flown by the Royal Flying Doctor Service to Royal Perth Hospital with serious head injuries and remains in a critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit.

On Tuesday, 31 March 2026, a 23-year-old man from Beagle Bay presented at Broome Police Station, where he was arrested and taken into custody.

He has since been charged with one count of ‘Grievous Bodily Harm’. He has been bailed and is next due to appear before the Broome Magistrates Court on Monday, 20 April 2026.
