You can now have your say on the proposed Community Benefits Guideline for renewable energy projects in Western Australia.

Our energy transition is well underway, and new renewable energy generation and storage projects are a vital part.

The transition will create new opportunities for regional communities hosting renewable infrastructure, including local employment, opportunities for local businesses to participate in supply chains, and community benefits like infrastructure investment - but it will also bring challenges, and changes.

To ensure host communities realise lasting benefits and economic opportunities from renewable energy projects, the WA Government, through PoweringWA, is developing a Community Benefits Guideline for renewable energy projects.

Once finalised, the Guideline will provide a reference point for Local Government Authorities, communities and industry as they negotiate benefits arrangements, streamlining these discussions and ultimately helping ensure that new renewable energy projects benefit host communities.

The Guideline is also intended to provide greater investment certainty and support delivery of renewable energy projects.

Now is the time to have your say and ensure the guideline is informed by the perspectives of communities and industry. Send your feedback on the Community Benefits Guidelines Consultation Paper before 5:00pm (AWST), 18 August 2025 by submitting consultation responses via email, or via mail to PoweringWA, Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation, and Safety, Locked Bag 100, East Perth WA 6892.
