26 innovators have been announced and will share in $922,573 of grant funding in the most recent round of the Innovation Booster Grant (IBG). 

First launched in 2011, the IBG is part of the WA Government's $16.7 million New Industries Fund to attract investment and promote the economic diversification of Western Australia.

The Innovation Booster Grant is a competitive funding grant designed to help WA-based startups and small businesses overcome barriers on the path to commercialisation. In the most recent round, 60% of the applications received were from female, First Nation, regional or founders from a culturally diverse background and 14 of the recipients come from either female founded companies or are based in regional Western Australia.

The IBG is designed to assist innovators overcome some of the barriers along the way to commercialisation, as well as build new relationships between innovators, consultants and service providers.

Eligible expenditure for grants includes:

  • research and development
  • product development
  • technology transfer
  • intellectual property
  • commercialisation support services

Since the program first launched in 2011 under the Innovation Vouchers Program there have been 302 grants awarded, valued at approximately $6.3 million with half of the amount being awarded in the past three years.
