The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) is hosting the Emeritus Professor of Food Marketing at Imperial College London, whose presentation will delve into industry developments and opportunities.
DPIRD Manager Food Industry Development Deborah Pett encouraged food and beverage manufacturers to come along to the functions and learn more about the global influences on their businesses.
“The WA food and beverage sector is highly influenced by global economic factors,” Ms Pett said.
“A better understanding of these factors will help businesses mitigate impacts or use them to their advantage to support business competitiveness and access into international markets.”
Professor Hughes is a regular visitor to WA, sharing international intelligence and global developments with the State’s food and beverage sector.
“Professor Hughes’ talk will draw on his extensive knowledge on food packaging, production, consumer behaviour and marketing opportunities in the dynamic global food and beverage landscape,” Ms Pett said.
“He will also provide insights into the global political environment and how changing political policies are impacting expectations and confidence.
“With recent global market volatility and customers increasingly demanding safe, premium food products and transparency, it is critical to understand where the growth opportunities exist for WA food and beverage.”
