Strike Force Vulcan officers are seeking the public’s assistance for information as they investigate a large bushfire that occurred in Kenwick on Thursday 11 December 2025.

About 12.30pm, Police and Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) were advised of a bushfire near the intersection of Wanaping Road and Brixton.  Fanned by high winds, the fire quickly spread causing the evacuation of nearby homes and businesses.

Strike Force Vulcan officers are investigating the cause of the fire and remind everyone to remain vigilant. If you see suspicious behaviour, report it immediately. Together, we can reduce the risk of bushfires and protect lives and property. Anyone with any CCTV, mobile phone or dash-cam vision of any suspicious persons, or activity in the area of these fires, is asked to upload the vision direct investigators via the link: https://wapf.au.evidence.com/axon/community-request/public/vulcan

Our priority is to keep people safe and to hold those responsible for deliberately lighting fires to account.

Rewards of up to $25,000 are available for information that leads to the identification and conviction of an arsonist.
