Strike Force Vulcan officers continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding a scrub fire that occurred in bushland in Koongamia on Saturday, 3 January 2026.
About 2.10am, the fire started in bushland on Wangalla Road, near a primary school and oval. The fire quickly spread and threatened nearby properties before being brought under control by Department of Fires and Emergency Services.
Strike Force Vulcan officers wish to speak to a person who was seen riding a mountain bicycle in the area, around the time the fire started as they may have information to assist officers.
Investigators urge anyone with any information relating to this fire, or who can identify the person shown, to contact Crime Stoppers either online via www.crimestopperswa.com.au or by calling on 1800 333 000. Reports can be made anonymously.
