This year 88 graduate officers from 18 agencies are starting their development journey through Launch, bringing fresh ideas and energy to the public sector.

Launch is a 10 month program for staff new to the sector who have recently completed tertiary study. Participants build the skills, knowledge, confidence and networks to excel in their graduate roles and contribute to a future fit, high performing sector.

Our own graduate officers at the Commission, Leah Patulny and Katelyn Wain, are ready to dive in.

“I’m looking forward to learning more about the bigger picture, the different agencies and how they all work together,” says Katelyn.

“I want to make change and help people, so I knew this was an opportunity I could not pass up.”

For Leah, this first week has been a great opportunity to hear from people with careers in the sector.

“I’m hoping that could be me in the future,” she says. “It’s so good to hear from people I can aspire to be like.”

Over the next 10 months participants will engage in 4 interactive learning modules and 3 targeted skill building sessions to strengthen strategic policy thinking and effective communication.

They also get real world experiences with a networking event, visits to Parliament House and other agencies, and reflection workshops giving them opportunities to share ideas and learn from each other.
