How often do graduate officers get to swap stories and insights with the people leading the public sector? At Launch, it’s part of the program.

Held as part of Skill builder 3: The power of communication, the Networking In Action Launch event brought together graduate officers and senior leaders to share insights, career advice and reflections on the future of the public sector in WA.

“Hearing about everyone’s background and journey into the public sector has been very valuable,” says Cooper Warrick, Graduate Officer at Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport.

“These sort of events help you build connections and hone communication skills that you can take throughout your career.”

Providing Launch participants with the opportunity to practice their communication skills, expand their professional networks and gain insights into the many career pathways available in the public sector is part of what makes the Launch program so valuable.

It also offers senior leaders a firsthand look at the talented graduates stepping into the sector to shape its future.

“We often see graduates coming through the program, progress rather quickly and taking up leadership roles,” says Chris Longley, senior leader at the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage.

“It’s great to see this emerging cohort of young, enthusiastic people that bring new thinking and ideas to the table.”

Launch supports graduates as they begin their public sector careers, combining professional development with unique opportunities to engage directly with the leaders of today.
