The Western Australian (WA) Government has awarded over $3.1 million in funding to 136 businesses through the latest four rounds of the Local Capability Fund (LCF).
The LCF helps WA small and medium enterprises build the capability, capacity and competitiveness needed to supply goods and services to the WA Government, major projects and other key markets.
Grants of up to $50,000 were available to successful applicants encompassing the following four categories:
- Regional Supplier round
- Supplying Key Projects round
- Standards Compliance round
- Aboriginal Business round
Funding across the four rounds will primarily support new plant and equipment, fit-outs and site upgrades, safety and compliance improvements and workforce training. Many local businesses will also use the funding to incorporate renewable energy and energy efficiency activities to support decarbonisation.
Aboriginal Business Round recipients will receive up to 75% of eligible activity costs, supporting the continued growth of Aboriginal-owned businesses in Western Australia, with the other three rounds providing 50% matched funding for eligible activity costs.
Since launching in 2011, the LCF has supported more than 870 local businesses and distributed over $30 million in funding.
"That's why we're supporting WA businesses through the Local Capability Fund so they can continue growing, stay competitive and provide quality jobs to all Western Australians," said Premier Roger Cook.
