Congratulations to the 2025 recipients of the Innovation Booster Grant (IBG) and Commercialisation Bridge Grant (CBG) programs!
Both the IBG and CBG are delivered through the New Industries and Innovation Fund, boosting the development and acceleration of innovation-based technologies and their take up in global value chains.
Out of the 21 recipients this year, two-thirds (14) are either regionally based, First Nations founded or include female founders, reflecting the broad diversity of Western Australia (WA)’s innovation ecosystem.
The IBG awarded 16 recipients up to $50,000 each to help improve capability and commercialise innovative projects.
Cutting-edge innovations this year include molecular preservation technology to prevent agricultural degradation; a safety app for Australians experiencing domestic violence; and a novel device to objectively measure infant breastmilk intake.
The CBG has awarded five local companies up to $250,000 each to help bridge the funding gap between early start commercialisation and ‘break through growth’.
The CBG’s 2025 recipients’ projects also highlight the wide range of innovations occurring in WA, from a vanadium flow battery for residential solar installations to asparagopsis seaweed production and dual extraction, as well as the electrification of heavy mining dump trucks.
