Development at the Australian Marine Complex in Henderson has taken a significant step forward, with Australian-owned Aurecon Australasia Pty Ltd (Aurecon) awarded the tender for technical studies that will inform future expansion.

The Integrated Infrastructure Program (IIP) will guide the next stages of infrastructure development at the AMC and build on the concepts developed in the AMC Strategic Infrastructure and Land Use Plan (SILUP) released last November.

The Western Australian Government has invested $87.6 million in four fast-tracked infrastructure projects at the AMC, following the development of the AMC SILUP, creating around 600 construction jobs and bolstering Western Australia's defence industry

The program aims to achieve greater integration and optimisation of infrastructure and industry at the AMC, cementing its position as a world-class, globally competitive hub for naval shipbuilding and sustainment, fabrication, assembly, maintenance and technology.

WA's burgeoning defence industry is a significant employer of Western Australians, and investing in future infrastructure requirements will help support the industry and create more jobs.

Aurecon will use a locally based workforce including Perth-based DHI who will provide expertise in wave and tide modelling.

The Western Australian Government in conjunction with the Department of Defence are funding the IIP and other planning studies to inform future development at the AMC.
