Arson Squad officers have charged a man as part of their ongoing investigation into a house fire that occurred in Midvale on Saturday, 9 August 2025.  

About 2am, WA Police and Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) responded to reports of a fire at a residence on Wellaton Street. 

It will be alleged the accused man was one of four individuals involved in the incident, during which Molotov cocktails were thrown through a bedroom window of the home, igniting furnishings inside.

A woman and three children were sleeping in the room at the time.  One child sustained minor burns and received medical treatment.  

A 41-year-old man from Middle Swan was charged with:

  • Criminal Damage by Fire
  • Unlawful Act or Omission with Intent to Harm (endangering life, health or safety of any person)

He is due to appear before the Midland Magistrates Court on 9 June 2026.

Rewards of up to $25,000 are available for information that leads to the identification and conviction of an arsonist.
