Following a joint investigation by detectives from the Sex Assault Squad and Esperance Detectives, a 29-year-old man has been charged in relation to a sexual assault incident that allegedly occurred in 2023.
Detectives will allege the man sexually assaulted a female backpacker, who was not known to him, between Saturday 30 December 2023 and Sunday 31 December 2023, at the Twilight Beach car park in Esperance.
The 29-year-old Esperance man has been charged with:
• Sexual Penetration without Consent
He is due to appear before the Kalgoorlie Magistrates Court on 9 June 2026.
Although this is a historical matter, WA Police Force remains committed to pursuing all available avenues to hold offenders accountable and support victim-survivors, regardless of how much time has passed.
