The Western Australian Government is pleased to welcome Professor Sharath Sriram as the newly appointed Chief Scientist of Western Australia. 

The Chief Scientist of Western Australia provides independent evidence-based advice to the State Government on science, technology and innovation.  

The role supports the development of WA’s science priorities, strengthens connections across research and industry, and promotes the role of science in the State’s long-term growth. 

Professor Sharath Sriram succeeds Professor Peter Klinken AC, who has served in the position since 2014. 

A distinguished international science and research leader with 20 years’ experience in science and technology, Professor Sriram brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role and will continue helping the State to build its science and technology capabilities. 

The Government thanks Professor Peter Klinken for his outstanding service to the State over the last decade.
